Saturday May 5
Conodoguinet trip
We put in near Donut Connection Saturday morning and out at Willow Mill Park.
John, Pat, Phil and I went on this trip. It was a very nice trip.
Slow and easy going for sightseeing.
There are many birds along this creek.
We saw a nesting goose and others walking around with their little flocks of goslings.
It was a bit shallow and I got stuck a couple times.
John pulled me through and I didn't even have to get out of the boat.
That was very nice of him. We could have used a little more sunshine.

Sunday May 6

Diana and I put in Sherman's creek about 1 mile from River.
We paddled down the nice deep-water part of the creek to the river.
The other direction (up the creek) there was not enough water for a kayak.
It is a very beautiful spot. We then went out into the river and paddled
against the rather strong current all the way up to the Juniata River.
Diana said this was her first trip in a kayak. She seemed to be very good at it.
She had her dog Buddy along and still managed that long paddle (about 2 miles) against
the current. We played around in the Juniata for a few minutes and then drifted back
down the Susquehanna to the Little Juniata creek in Duncannon. We where able to paddle
close to 100 yards up that creek before it got too shallow to go on.
We then went back to the river and back up in Sherman's creek to our put in take out spot.
The only problem with the trip was the slippery mud on the creek bank.
The river is still a little high for that kind of paddling at Duncannon.
When it drops a bit lower the area becomes almost a lake and you can leisurely paddle all around.
