September, 2003.
I spent a week kayaking the Holden Beach area. This was on the Intracoastal Waterway and the Shallotte River and the Shallotte Creek. I have only a few pictures which are along the Intracoastal Waterway. The Shallotte Creek was real nice at high tide. I need to finish exploring that sometime. Shallotte Creek Trail, 9.4 Miles (Round Trip) Skill Level: Novice/Intermediate Difficulty: Easy/Moderate Time Required: 4-8 Hours Beginning at Tripp's Fishing Center paddle across the Shallotte River, through some of the salt marsh islands to the shoreline of Boone Neck. At Windy Point head up Shallotte Creek and follow it to its head. At the approximately 4.5 mile point you will come to a fork in the creek. At this point you can explore the left or right forks of the headwaters. To complete this outing, return to Tripp's Fishing Center.
