Juniata River trip August 6, 2008

Juniata River "kayaking"

It was a beautiful day on the Blue Juniata! Since nobody wanted to do a river trip I did my test ride on my new Torrent at Howe Park. I went up to the ledge above Howe Park. The water was too low for a Juniata shuttle trip but the Susquehanna would have been good. Now I need to take a short easy trip of about 3 to 5 miles with no rough water. I am having a little trouble with my back on this boat. Maybe if I get the back strap adjusted better it will improve. I don’t know if I can take whirlpools or waves yet. This boat is much different than anything I ever paddled before. The water level was about 3.22 feet at Newport. The trip took about 1.5 hours. The water temperature was about 27 degrees celsius.

The Duncannon Navy rides again!

Don't you just hate it when the water is a bit higher and you hit that rock!
