Juniata River trip June 10, 2009

Juniata River "kayaking"

It was a beautiful day on the Blue Juniata! We paddled from Howe Park to Ken's Beach today. The water level was about 4.6 feet at Newport. The trip took about 3.5 hours. The water temperature was about 22 degrees celsius. We saw a Bald Eagle land on the Eagle Tree. At the end of our trip we were loading the boats on my truck I saw that my tire was dangerously low on air. As we were pulling out we met Ken of Ken’s Beach. I asked him if he had a compressor I could pump my tire with. Ken pulled out the screw in my tire. I probably ran over this at the truck stop causing a slow leak. He then put a plug in and pumped up the tire. Wow, I sure am glad our take out was at Ken’s Beach! Thank you Ken!
